Emirates Dubai flights take off

Middle East airline Emirates launched flights between Dubai and Newcastle Airport yesterday. Emirates will run the daily, long-haul service from the North East airport to the United Arab Emirates.
The flights to the airline's main hub not only offer a route to the increasingly popular holiday destination, they also open routes to 80 other long-haul destinations, including Australia, New Zealand and Africa.
The flights will be operated by an Airbus A330-200 aircraft, with 27 business and 251 economy class seats. Emirates UK regional manager, Laurie Berryman, said: 'We are absolutely delighted with how the introduction of this route has been met by the people of the North East'.
