Detectives have been given more time to interview him in London.
The suspect was arrested by officers from the North East Counter Terrorism Unit as a part of a joint operation with the Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command. A spokesman said: ‘On 25 February a 30-year-old man was arrested at a company address in Newcastle on suspicion of terrorist fund-raising. He remains in custody at a central London police station. Searches at the business premises, and residential premises within the Newcastle area, are complete.’
A BA spokesman said it took security ‘extremely seriously’ but could not comment further during the investigation.
