Flybe plane makes emergency landing

Fire crews rushed to Newcastle Airport today after an emergency was declared, the Chronicle reports. Six fire engines were sent to the airport after the early morning Flybe flight to Gatwick reported problems shortly after take off. The plane made a successful emergency landing back at the airport minutes later.
The 06:52 flight to Gatwick. declared a full emergency at 07:06. The airport was put on standby and emergency services called. However, the plane returned safely to Newcastle Airport and landed at 07:15. The aircraft took off again for Gatwick an hour later after the problem was corrected.
