Metro link suspended due to floods

Metro services between Newcastle Airport and Kingston Park have been suspended after some of the worst flooding ever seen on the system. Flooding at Callerton Parkway Metro station and at the Airport’s Metro terminus on Saturday has caused severe damage to the railway’s track and signalling equipment.
Metro operators Nexus will repair damaged equipment as soon as the remaining flood water is pumped away. However, the pumps are also on standby as further heavy rain has been forecast this week. A replacement bus service is operating between Kingston Park Metro station and Newcastle Airport. All other Metro services are running normally.
