Newcastle Airport is UK's most punctual

Newcastle Airport saw a big improvement in its flight punctuality between April - June, achieving the highest percentage of flights arriving on time. Ten of the UK's larger airports are monitored are monitored by the CAA and, from April-June, Newcastle achieved top on time performance - 86% for scheduled flights and 76% for chartered flights.
The figures also show the average delay for charter flights at the monitored airports fell from 32 minutes in the second quarter of 2008 to 19 minutes in the second quarter of 2009. However, at Newcastle, the average delay of all flights was 8 minutes for scheduled flights and 15 minutes for charter flights.
Newcastle Airport operations director, Will Dougherty, said: ‘This is excellent news for the airport, our airline partners and, of course, our passengers. Making sure aircraft arrive and depart on time requires a team effort and it is testimony to the hard work of people across the business that we are outperforming other UK airports. I also hope it gives extra confidence to our customers, who can rely on a speedy and efficient service from their local airport.’
