Eastern launch new Norway route tomorrow
11.05.08
UK regional airline Eastern Airways is launching its first direct international service from Newcastle Airport tomorrow, with non-stop flights to Stavanger, Norway. The airline had previously offered a link between the two cities via Aberdeen.
Eastern will offer a daily weekday service between Newcastle and Norway’s fourth largest city - European Capital of Culture 2008. The flights leave Newcastle at 09:50, landing in Stavanger at 12:40. Flights depart Stavanger at 13.10, arriving in Newcastle at 14:00 (all times local).
Chris Holliday, Eastern Airways’ chief operating officer, said: ‘We have provided a comprehensive network of domestic services from Newcastle for many years. Our first non-stop international route from the airport links the vibrant north east with the European culture capital.'
‘This convenient service is the fastest link between the two cities, which will not only appeal to business travellers, particularly those in the oil and gas industry, but also visitors taking short breaks in both regions.’
Stavanger is on the south west coast of Norway and is the country’s energy capital, with its vibrant oil and gas industry. Eastern passengers travelling through Newcastle Airport benefit from a dedicated fast track security channel to avoid any queues.
