Snow closes airport

Snow has caused cancellations and delays at Newcastle Airport today. After unexpected blizzards swept the region, the airport was temporarily closed this afternoon for its runways to be cleared.
Passengers faced delays on a number of flights, with four flights either been cancelled or diverted. The KLM flight to Amsterdam, due to leave at 13:40, was cancelled, as was the BA 15:05 flight to Heathrow. The 12:30 flight from the Isle of Man was diverted to Humberside, and the 13:00 flight from Amsterdam was diverted to Edinburgh.
