Airport suffers power problems
14.01.11
Newcastle Airport was forced to use back-up generators yesterday, after a power failure left over 7000 properties including the hub without electricity. Power company CE Electric is investigating the incident, which happened at 05:00 in the morning.
A spokesman for the airport said there was no impact on passenger services, however, Tyne and Wear Metro services to the airport were suspended for a short period. CE Electric described the incident as a ‘high voltage fault.’
