Jet2 is to create 118 new jobs at Newcastle Airport. It will base an extra plane at the airport next summer, adding five new routes and increasing flight frequencies on existing routes after a record summer at the base. It will launch new routes next year to Alicante, the Algarve, Toulouse, Krakow and Prague.
Philip Meeson, boss of Jet2, said: ‘Newcastle is a key airport for us, which is why we are adding another aircraft, additional destinations and increasing the flight frequency on existing routes. Customer feedback shows there are additional routes and services the people from the North East want, and we have factored those into our plans.’
