Man in court over airport drugs find

A man appeared in court yesterday after a substantial quantity of drugs were seized at Newcastle Airport. Customs officials discovered 4 kg of cocaine, with a street value of £300,000, on Thursday.
Lawrence Izundu, from Nigeria, was charged with attempting to smuggle class A drugs into the UK. He was remanded in custody at Newcastle magistrates and will next appear before the court on Monday. The 34-year-old had travelled from Cameroon via Paris when he was arrested.
