Recent research showed 98% of passengers waited less than 10 minutes to get through security checks at Newcastle Airport. However, with around 13,000 passengers a day expected to pass through the airport over the busy summer peak, it is reminding passengers of the security regulations they need to prepare for.
The airport says 3 easy steps have been identified that will ensure less time is spent getting through security. A spokesman said: ‘Pack suntan lotions, gels, creams and perfumes in your suitcase and check them into the hold. If you need any liquid items with you on the flight, make sure they are in containers of 100ml or less and are put inside a clear, re-sealable plastic bag. And make sure you, your family or friends leave plenty of time to travel to the airport and get through to departures. The sooner you’re here, the sooner you can relax and get into the holiday mood.’
Passengers have also been urged to check their hand luggage prior to arriving at the airport - as often they will find items left inside from previous trips. Clear plastic bags are provided free of charge at the entrance to the security search area.
