Airport ups recycling efforts
23.06.10
Newcastle Airport stepped up its recycling efforts this week, with the arrival of 40 new units positioned throughout the terminal. Unique to they airport, the recycling units were installed as part of The Recycle Zone project, a partnership which unites the collective expertise of Coca-Cola Enterprises, WRAP and Recoup to encourage people to recycle more often. They will allow passengers to responsibly dispose of their unwanted paper and plastic bottles.
The new venture is Coca-Cola Enterprises’ (CCE) first on-the-go recycling scheme in the North East. Helen Hughes, Environmental Advisor at Newcastle Airport said, ‘We are continuously looking into ways to improve our recycling procedures and are delighted with the introduction of the new on-the-go recycle units, we’re confident they will be a success.'
'The terminal is a vast public space which millions of passengers travel through each year. We want to ensure that they find it as easy as possible to recycle before they jet off.’
