Newcastle fans stranded at airport by Ryanair flight cancellation

Up to 60 Newcastle United fans were been stranded in Norway after their Ryanair flight home was cancelled, the Newcastle Evening Chronicle reports. The supporters, who travelled to Norway to watch the team beat Lillestrom in the InterToto Cup, had the victory soured after being forced to spend another night away from home.
Many of the fans staying in Oslo city centre got up at the crack of dawn for a 3 hour bus trip to Oslo's Torp Airport. About 170 passengers, including the football fans, queued at the departure gate where they were told there would be a delay because of a technical problem. Less than an hour later they were told the flight had been cancelled because of a faulty indicator in the cockpit.
One passenger told the newspaper: 'The way it has been handled by Ryanair is appalling. There was very little information coming through and we weren't told anything about a refund or alternative flights home.'
A spokesman for Ryanair said the passengers have been offered a full refund, a seat on a flight to Prestwick or Stansted later that day or one on today's flight back to Newcastle, due to arrive around 13:00.
