Freight companies merge
26.06.08
Camair Freight, based at Newcastle Airport Freight Village, has merged with Durham Tees Valley Airport Cargo Terminal based company BS Freight, to form Camair Freight Solutions, the freight division of Casper Shipping Limited.
Both firms were bought last year by Casper Shipping, based in Middlesbrough, before the 136-year-old raw materials carrier decided to bring them together to break new markets. The new air freight company expects to grow its turnover from £1.5m to £20m in the next five years as it taps into the rapidly expanding Middle East oil and gas market.
The two firms will increase the amount of equipment they export to foreign oil companies to help speed up plans to launch freight operations at other airports, including Heathrow.
