easyJet drops winter Nice flights
27.10.06
Low cost airline easyJet will not operate flights between Newcastle and Nice in the South of France this winter. The airline announced that poor sales have forced the withdrawal of the route, the cheapflights.co.uk website reports.
The route had operated continuously for the past two years. easyJet's move comes soon after bmibaby said it would end its service to Nice from Durham Tees Valley, and is a blow to travellers from the North East. There are now no local airports serving Nice this winter.
easyJet has said flights will return in April and operate during the summer months. A spokesman said that aircraft would be used to serve domestic routes and that there would be increased flights to Stansted, Bristol and Belfast from Newcastle.
