Emirates appoint new airport manager

Emirates has appointed Helen Johnston as its new airport services manager at Newcastle Airport. Gosforth-born Helen has worked in the aviation industry for 23 years and joins the airline from Newcastle College where she was an aviation lecturer and course leader.
Her previous roles include being a member of the management team at the British Airways Call Centre in Newcastle where she was responsible for the smooth operation of the centre. She will lead the Emirates’ team of 10 who are responsible for handling its daily non-stop flight to and from Dubai.
Laurie Berryman, Emirates manager UK North, said: ‘Helen will help to ensure that our Newcastle service continues to operates efficiently and grow in popularity with travellers.’ She has taken over from Bill McPherson, who has been promoted to Emirates’ manager airport services at Heathrow.
