Airport to celebrate 75th anniversary with growth
30.01.10
Newcastle Airport is hoping to grow out of the recession as it celebrates its 75th anniversary year. The airport will mark the milestone with a series of celebrations and has already unveiled a special anniversary logo.
Its chief executive Dave Laws has predicted growth of 2% for the airport over the next 12 months. He said: ‘Newcastle International first opened on July 26 1935 and now we have the capability to process 7.5 million passengers a year, fly people to more than 80 destinations worldwide and play a significant role in the regional economy.'
‘I think this is an exceptionally proud year for everybody connected with the airport. We have a series of events planned and want to involve as many people in these celebrations as possible.’
